History & Founder
Believe in You was started in 2024 by Thanuja Wijesinghe an inspiring leader, a change maker with her immense working experience in engaging herself with youth development in many overseas countries as well as Sri Lanka over two decades.
She strongly believes every person is good at something. She means to support young people on their life journey of self-development. She believes in herself with experience how her support has helped many on self-development regardless of any boundaries. Have worked with young offenders, differently able communities as well as different gender communities on self-development for social inclusion.
Her experience in Sri Lanka finds that young people’s development was being held back for many reasons. She strongly believes making the youth to find their passion, purpose and the goal, for them to find their hidden self will make a strong personality to make the future self for the world needs.
Thanuja was natured and nurtured to be the founder of ‘Believe in You’ She is a strong supporter of ‘Non-Formal Education’ which made her to ‘Believe in herself’.
She proudly gives her gratitude to The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award where she was mentored by a well-structured programme to build resilience. She is a proud achiever of Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards. She was a Global Operations Manger as well as a training manager for the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation in United Kingdom where she got the biggest opportunity of experiencing different methods and ways for self-development in different youth communities. Mentoring young people in different countries as well as training adults to be the mentor to youth are her strong areas which made her to develop ‘Believe In You’ programme.
Thanuja herself has defeated many challenges in her life, physically as well as mentally as a youth which she shares how she overcome situations with groups encouraging youth to have faith in self. ‘Believe in you’ is in a mission to get the youth to build their personality to win their world and be the unique global citizen.
